BARLING (KFSM) - Many employers from across the River Valley are coming together Tuesday (Aug.25) to host a job fair in Barling. The fair is taking place at the Armed Forces Reserve Center. The job fair starts at noon and will end at 7 tonight.

Representatives from 25 different companies such as Arcbest, the Fort Smith National Bank, and OK Foods will be there. Several hundred jobs are on the table and employers said the skill level for the jobs being offered ranges from entry level positions to part- time jobs to full time careers.

Workers with the Crawford County Adult Education Center will also be set up at the job fair. Their goal is to help people understand what it takes to get a job and how to improve their resumes. They'll be offering classes throughout the day to explain how to prepare a strong resume, dress for success, and hold a successful interview.

Officials from three different colleges, U-A Fort Smith, Vincennes University and Arkansas Tech will also be at the job fair.

Organizers behind today's job fair, said there's really a need for these types of events within the Barling community.

"The cool thing is that these employers are coming with jobs," said Gary Podgurski. "The employers are hoping to get the applications and try to get the help they need."

Organizers said they hope thousands of people make it out today to put in their applications.
