FORT SMITH (KFSM) — The Fort Smith Police Department has received 81 reports of breaking or entering to vehicles in just more than three weeks, according to a release on Tuesday afternoon (August 25).

The release stated 90 percent of those calls between Aug. 1- Aug. 25 involved entry through an unlocked door, open window and no sign of forced entry.

One victim around the 2400 block of Rannoch Lane reported an unknown subject had entered his vehicle and taken a handgun and wallet during the night of Aug. 17 or the morning of Aug. 18. The victim later reported unlawful purchases from from the stolen credit cards.

Detective Larry Phillips with the Fort Smith Police Department is attempting to identify the man pictured below.

Police have also released the pictures below as possible suspects after a Van Buren resident claimed she had her purse stolen while sleeping in the ICU waiting room of Mercy Hospital.

A release stated the woman discovered numerous fraudulent purchases from her credit cards.

The release also stated the suspect has a strong resemblance to a person of interest in the Aug. 17-Aug. 18 case.
