GREENWOOD (KFSM) -- The Sebastian County Fair has been in full swing all week and in addition to carnival rides, muttin' bustin' and face painting, children are also preparing for the Junior Livestock Auction on Saturday (Aug.29).

The kids have been preparing their animals all summer long for this auction by feeding, grooming and taking them on walks every day. Everything from cattle, goats to hogs will be sold at the auction.

The participants said it is all about how good the animal looks when it goes to be auctioned off. Each animal will be auctioned off for hundreds of dollars to buyers from around the area.  Many buyers come from large companies within the state or come to support the kids.

The kids get to keep the earnings they make at the auction and while some choose to spend it right away, others plan to keep the money in their savings.

The auction will start at 6 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 29), which is also the last day of the fair. Tickets at the gate cost $5 for adults and $3 for children.
