FORT SMITH (KFSM) — The Fort Smith Police Department was searching for a man wanted in connection to a shooting behind El Super Taco located at 2100 Grand  Avenue Thursday (Aug. 27).

Police said they are looking for Brandon Mathis, 18, in the shooting of Gustavo Delgado, 28.

Delgado was shot at least twice, once in the leg and once in the arm or torso area, in the 2100 block of North I Street around 11:30 a.m., according to police.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The shooting was a result of an argument between the victim and his girlfriend and the suspect and another woman, according to police. An eyewitness reported Delgado came out with a golf club and Mathis shot him, then he and the woman left the scene in a white, four-door Chevy Impala with tinted windows, police said.

Both Darby Junior High and Tilles Elementary School were on lock down following the shooting; however, the lock down has now been lifted at both of those schools, according to school officials.
