VAN BUREN (KFSM) — A Van Buren pastor was laid to rest Thursday morning (August 27) after a service in front of an estimated congregation of 1,200 people.

Rev. Bobby Johnson, 72, had served as pastor to the First Assembly of God church since June of 1980.

Prior to becoming a pastor of First Assembly of God, Johnson served as the Arkansas District Assemblies of God Youth Director.

He was selected to be one of 11,500 to carry the torch for the Winter Olympics on December 13, 2001 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

His visitation was Wednesday evening, and church staff estimated 3,000-4,000 people attended.
