FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Dickson Street Slide is coming to downtown Fayetteville on Sunday (Aug. 30) and 5NEWS has compiled a quick guide to help sliders be extra prepared.

Sliders will start near Collier Drug Store and glide down Dickson Street on an inner tube, stopping somewhere between the Walton Arts Center and Chipotle Mexican Grill. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Slide the City event will be split into two sliding sessions, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5:30-9 p.m. Participants with unlimited slider passes will have additional hours to slide. People with single slide tickets must bring their own tube.

A Celebrity Slide Off will begin at 3 p.m. featuring 18 local personalities, including six from 5NEWS. There will be seven rounds, and the fastest slider will get to name one of six puppies due to arrive in September.

Dickson Street will close at 4 a.m. Sunday morning to clear space for the event, along with a number of intersecting streets, including Rollston, Shipley, School, Locust, Thompson  and Church Avenues. Cars parked on Dickson Street will be removed and towed free of charge to 211 N. Church Avenue.

There are several places that will be available for free parking, such as all public parking areas in the entertainment district and downtown. Parking will also be available at Baum Stadium, with a paid shuttle service provided through Green Cab and Piggy Back. Check out the map attached below:

The media sponsor, KFSM, is partnering with Fayetteville-based nonprofit Soldier ON Service Dogs for the event. The nonprofit is also giving back by donating 60 triple slide tickets to local children through the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of NWA, and Pagnozzi Kids charities, according to a press release.  Soldier ON Service Dogs gives local veterans with PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injuries trained service dogs.

A vendor bazaar and kids’ activity area will also be set up, and Dickson Street Slide tanks will be available for purchase.
