SEQUOYAH COUNTY (KFSM) — A preliminary court hearing has been set for a Muldrow man arrested on suspicion of involvement in the stabbing of Joseph Morton.

Tyler Chapman, 22, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment hearing Wednesday afternoon (August 26) to charges of first degree burglary, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Chapman is scheduled to appear before Judge Matt Orendorff for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 24, 2015 at 9 a.m.

Morton had been placed in the intensive care unit at Sparks Regional Medical Center after the incident, but his current condition is unknown.

Earlier in the month, Reeves Gentry, 38,  pleaded not guilty at his arraignment hearing to the same charges. He had turned himself into the police after his name was listed as a suspect in the stabbing.

Gentry is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 2, 2015.

Chapman was released from jail on a $20,000 bond. Gentry remains in the Sequoyah County Detention Center.
