FORT SMITH (KFSM) — Police have arrested two suspects after a shoplift report resulted in a high speed chase, according to Detective Jonathan Wear of the Van Buren Police Department.

Jeremy Dykes, 36, of Boonville, and Jessica Wheeler, 27, of Fort Smith, are behind bars at the Crawford County Detention Center.

The chase began in Van Buren near an auto parts store on Fayetteville Road and ended in Fort Smith.

The suspects fled on foot after the vehicle had exited on Kelley Highway and stopped at a cemetery behind the State Police office, according to Wear. Wheeler was arrested at the cemetery and Dykes, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested behind a Walmart.
