SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) -- Law enforcement agencies from across Northwest Arkansas came together Friday morning (Sept. 4) to honor Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth.

The end of watch ceremony was held at the Siloam Springs Police Department.

"We stand with our brothers in law enforcement and we stand as a family," Siloam Springs Capt. Monty Balk said.

Balk said over 30 officers from 15 agencies attended the vigil. When Deputy Goforth was being laid to rest at 11 a.m. in Texas, all the officers turned their emergency lights on for one minute to honor him.

"It causes us to reflect in a lot of different directions, not only for our own safety, our family's safety both on and off duty," Balk said.

Balk said 2015 has been a trying year for law enforcement, but said he knows that everyday he and his fellow officers put on their badge, they are doing the right thing.

"We go out here and we do the job that we do everyday, and that is to serve our community, protect our citizens and help those that are in need," Balk said.
