FORT SMITH (KFSM) - After being closed for several years, the Fort Smith Boxing Club has re-formed to help local kids learn valuable lessons. But, since they are a non-profit they need to hold fundraisers to stay up and running, and one will be scheduled for next week.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Saturday (September 12), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to Harold Corley and Terry Clark who work at the club. On Saturday, September 19th, the boxing club will host a fundraiser at the Evans Boys and Girls Club in Fort Smith. They also held it last year at the same venue. Tickets will cost $6 for adults and $3 for children.

The boxing club started up again last year after shuttering its doors several years ago. Clark, a two-time Junior Olympic champion, said he trains the kids everyday to make them better and keep them in good shape. He also said boxing allows them to gain self-control.
