After a weekend that felt more like Fall than late Summer, highs return to above normal this week.
A weakening disturbance will move into the area on Monday with an increase in clouds but it appears the next widespread chance for rain arrives Friday night into the weekend after the arrival of the deeper humidity.
The two big weather stories this week are:
- Return of heat & humidity
- Late-Week/Weekend Rain
A high pressure ridge will dominate into the work-week. The south winds will bring back plenty of humidity and heat with temperatures returning to above normal. The trough of low pressure out to the west will push a few weakening systems our way but will probably only increase clouds from time to time. A weak system rolls into the area on Monday mid morning.
Temperatures will be above normal for much of the week with a return to cooler temperatures as next weekend arrives along with the cold front.
This is a look at the upper level winds as the weekend ended. The trough responsible for the cool weather is moving out.
By Tuesday, a high pressure ridge is established and starts to really build across the entire area. Notice the large area of blue on the left of the image off the west coast. This is a deepening trough. In response to the trough deepening the ridge will be amplify over us.
By Friday, the high pressure ridge begins to flatten with a cold front arriving into the area. With all of the heat and humidity we should have enough instability and moisture for showers and thunderstorms to develop. Some could make there way in as early as Thursday from Kansas or Oklahoma but the front will be in the area on Friday night before stalling into the next weekend. This should keep rain chances going for both Saturday and Sunday.
