FORT SMITH (KFSM) - For its campaign season of seeking donations, the United Way of Fort Smith set a goal of raising $2 million. Now, the agency is revealing they are half way towards achieving the marker.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that ran Sunday (September 20), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to Eddie Lee Herndon and Penni Burns of the United Way. Herndon told Daren the smallest amount people can donate goes a long way towards helping them generate the money they need to support the 34 area agencies they provide resources to.

Burns also told Daren that 27 pacesetter companies started campaigning a month earlier before their season officially began, and it was revealed on Wednesday (September 17), they have already raised a little over $1 million dollars.
