5th Annual Red Shoe Shindig Raises Money For Local Hospital Family Room

FORT SMITH (KFSM) - A fundraiser next Saturday is encouraging people to wear red shoes, with the money raised going to a hospital room that services families.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Sunday (September 27), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to Elise Cooley of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkoma. The organization provides support for families from western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma through its family rooms located at Mercy Hospitals in Fort Smith and Rogers.

Cooley said the services they provide puts families at ease as they can focus on their child's recovery. The fifth annual Red Shoe Shindig is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th at 6 p.m. This year's event will be Oscar-themed with secret awards distributed throughout the night.
