FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A driver crashed a stolen vehicle into a tree at a golf course in Fort Smith Sunday (Oct. 4), according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Police said the crash happened around 2:15 p.m. at Hardscrabble Country Club.

The driver, Doyle Fuller, was driving a 2011 black Ford Explorer that was stolen from Randall Ford Dealership in Fort Smith, according to police. Fuller faces charges of theft by receiving stolen property and reckless driving.

Police said Fuller was driving at a high speed along a cart path on the golf course. He drove about half a mile before colliding with a tree on the 11th hole, police said.

Fuller was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries. He was released from the hospital on Sunday, according to police.

Police said it’s not clear whether or not alcohol played a factor in the crash.
