Football players, cheerleaders and fans wore pink at the Farmington v. Shiloh Christian game Saturday (Oct. 10). Leighann Brown said she was diagnosed in early June of this year, and she is halfway through her chemotherapy treatments. Her son Chase is a player on the Farmington team.
“She is just fighting through it, and I’m so glad that she's able to come out and watch me play,” he said.
Her oldest son Ethan was at the game, along with other family members.
“I love my mom, because she is just this bundle of happiness,” Ethan said.
At halftime, players paused for a moment of silence and a balloon release. After that, each of the sixth grade Farmington football players handed Brown a single pink carnation.
“I love this Farmington family,” Brown said. “They are such a blessing to me and my whole family.”
Farmington won the game against Shiloh 18-12.
“We all for sure, really did play for Miss Leighann Brown and she's a soldier out there and we were trying to be like a soldier, just like her,” football player Braden Bullington said. “I know she fights really hard, and we were trying to fight out there to beat Shiloh.”
Fans on both sides of the field donated money to the Brown family on Saturday.
