Man Dies In Possible Hunting Accident Near Greenwood

SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) — The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man shot while hunting south of Greenwood.

Investigators said a 911 call came in around 8 a.m. from a man reporting a man he was hunting with had been shot. Deputies said the incident happened near the 1900 block of South Coker Road.

According to deputies, lifesaving efforts were performed on the man at the scene but were unsuccessful.

Investigators said crime scene personnel with the sheriff’s office processed the area for evidence and conducted interviews.

According to a news release, Arkansas Game and Fish are also conducting an investigation, because the men were hunting at the time of the shooting.

Deputies said the body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, along with the Greenwood Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
