FORT SMITH (KFSM)- A man responsible for holding his wife hostage for several hours is now in custody, according to Sheriff William Hollenbeck.

Hollenbeck identified the man as 46-year-old Jesse Gray. He said his wife, Misty Gray, was held at gunpoint and knife-point for hours.

According to a news release, around 2 p.m. a 911 call came in to the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office of a barricaded person and hostage situation in the 8600 block of Bonanza Rd. in Jenny Lind.

The release states Gray went to the residence demanding all of the people inside the trailer to leave. It states he then took his ex-wife into the home with him and held her hostage until 9 p.m.

Hollenbeck said Sebastian County negotiator Philip Pevehouse talked Gray into coming outside. He said Gray walked out holding his wife in front of him, then let her go. He said Gray's wife is uninjured.

According to the release, Gray is behind bars at the Sebastian County Detention Center on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault on a family or household member, first-degree terroristic threatening and residential burglary.
