FORT SMITH (KFSM) - 5NEWS continues its coverage of highlighting agencies that benefit from the United Way of Fort Smith, as they are halfway through their fundraising season.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Saturday (October 10), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to the Van Buren Boys and Girls Club's Board President Daniel Perry. He said their after-school program has been busier than normal this year, with them currently serving 1,200 kids. The club relies on volunteers, which Perry said they are always in need of having around.

Perry also said that at one point when the club was in dire straits, the United Way covered the entire budget but over the years the amount they've received from them has decreased.
