FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will host a conference, and according to one organizer, the museum was specifically chosen for what sits under it -- groundwater.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Sunday (October 11), anchor Daren Bobb interviewed Delia Hoak with the Illinois River Watershed Alliance. She said 13 states will be represented at the 60th Annual Midwest Groundwater Conference, with over sixty speakers participating.

Hoak said they'll be sharing a number of studies on Arkansas and the surrounding areas at the conference. She also said the state stands in a unique position as it received record rainfall totals a few months ago, in comparison to other parts of the country, which remain dry.

The Groundwater Conference will begin on Tuesday (October 13) with a pre-conference tour of Cave Springs. For those interested in attending, they can register by clicking on this link.
