(KFSM) — The Arkansas Forestry Commission issued burn bans for Johnson and Logan Counties on Monday (Oct. 12).
That brings the total number of counties under burn bans to 40.
Wildfire danger for the entire 5NEWS viewing area is at a moderate level.
However, with a warm, dry week coming up, more counties could be added.
In a Facebook post on Monday, the commission said that dry leaves and grass dry out very quickly, so the fire risk is moderate to extreme statewide. The commission discourages burning across the state.
