Police Identify Mother And Son From Barling Shooting

BARLING (KFSM) — The mother and son involved in a shooting incident on Friday evening (Oct. 9) have been identified.

The Barling Police Department stated homeowner Stephen Hercher, 52, was found dead in his living room with a single gunshot wound to the head, according to a release.

Giselle Pettycord, 79, was also found in the living room with two gunshot wounds. She died while being transported to the hospital.

Both bodies have been sent to the medical examiner’s office, and the police department is awaiting the results of the autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation, but police stated it is an “apparent murder-suicide.”
