LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — The Arkansas Supreme Court has granted a stay of its own in the executions of eight inmates on death row, despite ruling that a lower-court judge had stepped over his jurisdiction.
Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Wendell Griffen had granted a temporary delay in the scheduled executions, the first of which were scheduled for Wednesday (Oct. 21).
The Supreme Court justices had dismissed Griffen’s stay on, but instead granted their own, according to court documents.
Griffen had also demanded the Department of Correction release the source of the drugs used in the method of execution.
