FORT SMITH (KFSM) - The Fort Smith Citizens Police Academy's alumni association is hosting a fun run at Ben Geren Park to help create a better relationship with the community.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Saturday (October 24), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to Cpl. Wes Milam with the Fort Smith Police Department and Rick Watson, alumni president of the Police Citizens Academy. Both said they expect at least 50 officers to attend this race scheduled for Saturday, October 31st. Besides race day festivities, they will plan on bringing the police equipment they use to give the public a chance to see it in person.

They hope this event will be a step towards helping the public understand the duties of their local law enforcement. The race will start at 9 a.m.
