Tenant Arrested After Attacking Landlord With Machete, Deputies Say

RUDY (KFSM) -- A man is facing an attempted murder charge after attacking his landlord with a machete, according to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

Calvin Collins, 48, was arrested Friday (Oct. 23) after attacking David Arthur at Arthur's home in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue in Rudy, the sheriff's office said. Collins was renting an extra room in Arthur's home, according to deputies.

Deputies said a dispute between the two turned into a fight and Collins attacked Arthur with a machete, hitting the victim several times. Arthur's wife witnessed Collins on top of her husband as he tried to cut his head off with the machete, but was unsuccessful, according to the sheriff's office.

Arthur was taken to the hospital with numerous wounds, but was later released, deputies said.

Collins is being held at the Crawford County Jail, according to the sheriff's office.
