KANSAS CITY (KFSM) — A woman is facing arson and second-degree murder charges after allegedly setting a fire that killed two Kansas City firefighters earlier this month.

Thu Hong Nguyen, 43, was accused of setting her nail salon on fire on Oct. 12 in order to collect insurance money, according to our affiliate station KCTV 5. She allegedly admitted to purchasing four bottles of acetone and four bottles of isopropyl alcohol the day of the fire.

Kansas City firefighters Larry Leggio and John Mesh both died while fighting the blaze, after part of the building collapsed on them.

Nguyen was arrested Monday night (Oct. 26) and is facing two counts of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson, KCTV 5 reports. Her bond was set at $2 million.
