UPDATE: Investigation Continues After Four Drive-By Shootings In Fort Smith Within Six Hours

FORT SMITH (KFSM) — Police are investigating multiple reports of shots fired in different Fort Smith neighborhoods in a span of six hours. The shootings happened after a robbery in Bonanza. The victim in the robbery and the people that he listed as potential suspects used to live in the homes that were shot.

The first drive-by shooting happened on Cavanaugh Road around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night (Oct. 27). The caller reported four shots were fired. Officers responded, but were not able to find any casings in the area, according to Captain Levi Risley with Fort Smith Police.

Around 1:30 a.m., another drive-by shooting was reported. This one happened in the 1800 block of Boston Street. People inside the apartment that was hit told officers they heard seven gunshots. Police found evidence of three bullets; two in a window of the apartment and another in a car parked in the property’s parking lot, according to Cpl. Kyle Story with Fort Smith Police.

About 45 minutes later, another drive-by shooting was reported in the 600 block of Trenton Drive. Officers said a house in the 600 block was hit three times. They also recovered three bullet casings found in the street from that shooting.

A fourth drive-by shooting was then called in to the 1800 block of North 52nd Street. Capt. Risley said one bullet went into a house there, and several more went into a parked car in the street.

Officers are currently putting together a description of the suspect(s) and the vehicle(s) he or she was seen driving during the shootings. It’s unclear if the four shootings are related; however, officers said they have not ruled that out at this time.

According to police, no one was injured in the shootings. No names are being released at this time.  All four of them remain under investigation.
