FORT SMITH (KFSM) – While many families will spend hours in the kitchen for Thanksgiving celebrations, several restaurants in our area will be open and serving hot meals.

General Manager of Village Inn Roshelle White said a full Thanksgiving feast will be available.

“We have turkey or ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, our rolls, green beans, carrots,” she said.

Many people, like Brenda Wallwork, came to the restaurant on Wednesday (Nov. 25) to get a pie the day before the holiday.

“A wonderful apple pie and a pecan pie for a certain someone who loves pecan pie,” Wallwork said.

She said normally bakes her own, but decided to change things up this year.

“Well I’m not the best pie maker, so I want to make sure everyone eats it,” she said.

While employees are busy selling pies and making more for the busy weekend, White said they are happy to serve a warm meal on Thanksgiving Day.

“That’s kind of heartwarming to be able to take those people in -- and not only give them food, but kindness -- and hopefully some warmth and just have a good Thanksgiving meal,” White said.

Village Inn opens at 6 a.m. Thursday and closes at midnight.

Also open in Fort Smith are Benson’s Grill and Lucy’s Diner.

In Northwest Arkansas, places like Golden Corral, IHOP and Denny’s will be open.
