BELLA VISTA (KFSM) -- Members of the Bella Vista Police and Fire Departments received a generous donation this Thanksgiving.

An anonymous donor purchased a turkey for each department employee.  Around 50 were donated to the fire department, and nearly 40 to the police department, which comes to about 90 turkeys total.

"I was grateful, because you know most things that are going on right now with police and stuff, so it's nice that we still have support out there," Officer Bryan Bunch said.

Bunch picked up his free turkey from Harps Wednesday (Nov. 25). He said the donation means more than just a free meal.

"Most of us have to work holidays, all holidays, so being able to have this to to be able to give to my family means a lot to us," Bunch said.

The turkeys cost anywhere from $16-$18. The mystery citizen spent an estimated $1500 on the turkeys for the police and fire department.

"I can't say enough about the donor," Fire Chief Stephen Sims said. "I think it's a great thing and these guys right here will remember it for many, many Thanksgivings on out."

The turkeys were given to officers and firefighters in uniform, as well as the office staff at both departments.
