LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — A Florida man has applied to place a gay pride “Festivus Pole” at the state capitol grounds.

Chaz Stevens of Deerfield Beach, Fla. gave three general descriptions of the pole when he applied for a temporary display through the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office.

  • 6-foot Festivus Pole, topped with a 8-inch disco ball, wrapped in colors of the rainbow
  • X-crossed pieces of wood mounted on stand, approximately 2’x2′.
  • There is no power, no moving parts

Stevens applied for the display on Monday (Nov. 30).

Temporary displays must follow guidelines of not incorporating living elements (people, attendants, food, animals, etc.), may not remain on capitol grounds for more than five weeks, must be completely silent and must be confined to a specific temporary display area, among other regulations.
