GIVING TUESDAY

ARKANSAS (KFSM ) — We’ve had Black Friday, and Cyber Monday; but today is “Giving Tuesday” (Dec. 1)!

For those who don’t know, it’s a day of generosity happening around the world. Communities, charities, families, businesses and students all come together for the purpose of giving back to the community and highlighting small acts of kindness.

Part of the movement involves using social media to share with the world exactly how you gave back. The public is encouraged to share pictures on their social media, indicating that they’ve donated and encouraging others to give by using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

The Fort Smith Museum of History is taking part in the festivities today. If you would like to donate, call the museum at 479-783-7841, or donate online by CLICKING HERE.

The University of Arkansas- Fort Smith is also taking part in “Giving Tuesday.” Funds donated to the university will go towards scholarship funds for students. Any donation amount is accepted. If you donate to the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and would like to share on social media, the group will use the hashtag #lionshare15.

The United Way of Northwest Arkansas is also excited to participate in this year’s “Giving Tuesday”, with a goal of raising $5,000 to help 26,000 children living in poverty in Northwest Arkansas. Online donations can be made by CLICKING HERE.

The Sheepdog Impact Assistant Program is asking for donations during “Giving Tuesday”. The group has deployed teams to several disasters, and helped hundreds of Veteran and First Responder families in need of assistance. To give a tax-deductible donation to the group, CLICK HERE.

And “Home is where the heart is” is an old adage that rings true for so many families who spend their holiday season in the hospital. Give thanks and help those in need by donating to the Ronald McDonald House. Studies show that children heal better and faster when loved ones are near. You can donate online by CLICKING HERE.
