SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) — A local sheriff’s office K9 has a new bullet and stab vest thanks to an organization and manufacturer that have donated funds.

The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office’s K9 Enzo received the body armor after donations from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and Armor Express, according to a Facebook statement from sheriff’s office.

According to the statement, one K9 protective vest costs between $1,795-$2,234, has a five-year warranty and an average weight of 4-5 pounds.

“Protecting the life of our K-9 deputies is just as important as protecting the lives of any of our deputies,” Investigator Philip Pevehouse said in the statement. “K-9 deputies serve a vital role in the interdiction of drug trade in our county, and are highly involved in community outreach programs.”

“We appreciate the Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. for providing Enzo with his vest,” he said.
