SEARCY (KFSM) — More than a year after he was reported missing, police have made an arrest in the Malik Drummond case.

Investigators arrested the child’s father, Jeffery Leroy Clifton, 43, of Searcy, just before midnight on Tuesday (Dec. 1) on suspicion of capital murder and abuse of a corpse, according to a release from the Searcy Police Department.

The two-year-old boy went missing Nov. 23, 2014. Tanya Drummond, the child’s mother, told police the toddler wandered away while Clifton was sleeping. Since then police have been developing leads that led them to Clifton’s arrest, according to authorities.

Police said Wednesday they found human remains in Jackson County that may belong to Malik Drummond. They said there could be more remains elsewhere.

Authorities are currently not releasing anymore details, but said the investigation is still active.
