HOT SPRINGS (KFSM) — Chris Carney, a former MTV reality show personality, was killed in a single-car crash on Highway 70 in Hot Springs on Friday (Dec. 4).

Carney, 35, was traveling with Ezekiel Blanton, 37, about six miles east of Hot Springs when Blanton missed a turn and over-corrected, sending the vehicle into a tree, police told KTHV.

The accident occurred overnight, and both men were pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived around 1:40 a.m.

Carney’s wife is former Disney Channel star Tiffany Thornton, who played a character on the show “Sonny With A Chance.” He is also the son of the Hot Springs mayor, Ruth Carney, KTHV reported.

Carney was on the MTV show “twentyfourseven” and was also a lead singer in the band “The Prom Kings,” KTHV reported.

The Hot Springs city board staff released this statement:

The City of Hot Springs Board of Directors, staff and employees extend their heartfelt sympathy to Mayor Ruth Carney, Rev. Ken Carney, Tiffany Thornton Carney, and the entire family upon the death of Chris Carney in a car accident which occurred early this morning. Please keep the Carney family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
