Fayetteville Beats Out Har-Ber In Rematch For 7A Title

Fayetteville victorious in rematch with Har-Ber for state title.

LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) - It was a different ball game the second time around between Fayetteville and Har-Ber for the 7A state championship with a 28-7 victory for the Bulldogs Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.

It was an ugly game all around, with nine combined turnovers by both teams. But, it was the Bulldogs who capitalized the most on those mistakes. Har-Ber's Chandler Fuller was intercepted five times in the game. Joey Savin for Fayetteville came away with most of those picks, which helped him pick up the 7A State Championship MVP award.

What seemed like it could have been an easy comeback for the Wildcats, only trailing by a touchdown going into halftime, slipped right out of their hands in the second half.  Fayetteville running back Javontae Smith would find the end zone twice in the second half, and the Purple Dog defense would hold off the Wildcats for a 28--7 state tile win for Fayetteville.
