VAN BUREN (KFSM)– The City of Van Buren kicked off the holiday season on Saturday (Dec. 5) by holding their 11th Annual Festival of Trees.

The Festival of Trees allowed local businesses the chance to sponsor a tree on the lawn of the Crawford County Courthouse. The event was part of the Courthouse’s lighting ceremony and was organized by the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce.

Executive Director of the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce Jackie Krutsch said the tree sponsorship allows local businesses the chance to market themselves while showing their support for the Chamber of Commerce.

Krutsch also said the Annual Festival of Trees is a fun way for the Chamber of Commerce to give back to the Van Buren community.

“For us it’s the season of giving, it’s an opportunity for the chamber and the business community to give back,” Jackie Krutsch said.

Krutsch said besides the tree festival, live music was also offered at the event as well as a special program by Crawford County Judge John Hall held before the lighting ceremony.

According to Judge Hall, this year’s Festival of Trees had one of the biggest turnouts in the event’s history.
