BENTONVILLE (KFSM) — Walmart has become the first retailer to develop a mobile payment system, called Walmart Pay.
To use the Walmart Pay system, shoppers must download the Walmart app, and then register a credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart gift card, according to a press release. When they check out, shoppers can pay with their smartphones using the Walmart Pay feature in the app.
The system will be available at select stores starting this month, the release states. The system will be rolled out nationwide in the first half of next year.
More than 22 million people are already using the app, which is available for both Android or iOS devices.
