FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A 17-year-old male suspect in a fatal stabbing over the weekend will be tried as an adult, police said.

Rashad Brown, 17, was taken into custody on Saturday (Dec. 12) after allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old man, Ced Oliver, police said. Brown has officially been charged with first degree murder, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The stabbing happened on Peachtree Drive around 12:40 a.m., according to police.

A vigil for Oliver was held Saturday at 9 p.m. in the courtyard at Springdale High School. Oliver was a member of the Springdale High School football team.

The memorial service will be held at the Christian Life Cathedral on Wednesday (Dec. 16) at 4 p.m.
