ELM SPRINGS (KFSM) — A proposed wind farm that has been the subject of controversy for several months has taken another turn.

The Elm Springs Planning Commission read a letter from Cody Fell on Monday evening (Dec. 14), withdrawing a rezoning request that had been submitted to build a wind farm on a 300-acre plot of land near the city.

Record indicate the property is owned by Elite Energy, LLC.

According to the Dragonfly Industries website, the site of the wind farm in Elm Springs would include an office space with a secure operations station, warehouse, energy storage system, substation and 35+ turbine towers.

Dragonfly Industries still plans to have representatives present for next week’s city council meeting on December 21.

Opposition Jonathon Hamby said he still believes there is a loophole or another angle to keep pushing the proposed wind farm forward.

Mayor Harold Douthit has more than 250 questions that have been submitted to the city concerning the wind farm.
