Another quick moving system will bring rain chances to the area on Thursday with the best chance during the first part of the day. Unlike the last rain event, no flooding or severe weather will occur.

Friday will be warm with temperatures above normal in the 50s.

All attention is focused on the weekend when some of the coldest air of the season arrives with highs falling into the 30s and lows in the teens. While temperatures could moderate a bit, it’s safe to say this cold push will stick around for at least a few weeks.

There’s a limited chance light rain could changeover to light snow on Saturday but impacts appear minimal.

Another fast moving wave will move across the area on Sunday with another chance for light flurries or snow on Sunday night into Monday. Moisture may be limited so overall accumulations appear to be minimal.

Here’s a look…

Looking at the middle from the atmosphere from above shows us a ridge or blocking pattern in play around Greenland. There’s also another trough off the west coast which should cause more amplification in the pattern. The end result is that it’s going to be cold and stay cold until at least the middle or end of the month. No major warm spell out there.

Worth watching this weak system rolling across the area on Sunday night into Monday. We’ll likely see an increase in clouds, maybe a few snowflakes, too.
