FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – After a week of speculation, Alex Collins is headed to the NFL.

The Arkansas junior running wrote a letter to Arkansas fans on the Razorbacks website with his decision on Sunday morning:

“For the past week, I have spent my days and nights with much prayer trying to decide my future at the University of Arkansas.

Without a doubt this has been one of the most difficult weeks of my life as I try to make the right decision for my future. If I return, getting my degree and perhaps breaking new records would be within my reach.

To be able to share those records and awards with the team and fans would be an incredible experience for all of us.

I also see a future in the NFL as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

After much prayer and discussion with the people who love me, I have made the decision to enter the NFL Draft.”

Collins set an Arkansas school record with 20 rushing touchdowns in 2015 and rushed for 1,577 yards. Collins finished his Razorbacks career with 3,703 and 36 touchdowns. He joins fellow running back Jonathan Williams in this springs NFL Draft.

The Miami, Fla. native became just the third player in SEC history to run for 1,000 or more in each of his first three collegiate seasons. Collins joined Hershel Walker and former Razorback Darren McFadden on the list.

Collins ran for 1,026 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman in 2013 then followed that up with 1,100 yards and 12 more scores last season as a sophomore.
