POTEAU (KFSM) — Poteau Police, Fire and EMS were at the scene of a house fire on LeFlore Avenue Monday morning (Jan. 11). Crews are working to figure out what caused the house to go up in flames.
Firefighters on scene said the fire was called in around 7:15 a.m. When they arrived at the house, flames were shooting out of the roof.
Firefighters said the home was abandoned, and that no one was inside the home when the fire started. They called in for backup and worked to ensure the fire did not spread to nearby homes.
The Fire Chief said this is not the first time this house has caught fire over the years.
