BATON ROUGE (KFSM)- The Razorbacks are now 1-5 on the road after they edged LSU 48-44 in Thursday’s win. The season started out lukewarm for the Arkansas women’s basketball team, but the hogs are starting to prove that they can work through their tough SEC schedule and come out with big wins. The Razorbacks came into Thursday’s game with two wins at home under their belt and now their win streak extends to three, improving their record to 9-10 overall and 4-2 in SEC play.

All-SEC candidate Arkansas junior Jessica Jackson led the Razorbacks with 15-points and 6-rebounds and Devin Cosper was right behind her in points with 12 added to the win total. Jackson scored 11 of her 15-points within the first half of the game in Baton Rouge.

LSU was riddled with injuries and illnesses leading into the game that hindered some of their top starters. Their leading scorer and biggest shooting threat Jenna Deemer was out for her third straight game due to illness. And usually starter Ann Jones was out for her first game of the season because of an ankle injury.

The score was tied five times throughout the contest, and though it was a slower paced game the fourth quarter was the most exciting. Arkansas lead in the fourth by 9-points but the Lady Tigers fired back scoring 5-straight points to lead 43-42. But, Devin Cosper ended the one-point lead by LSU by hitting a three-pointer. Lady Tigers returned with a pair of free throws making it just a two-point lead by Arkansas. Cosper was then fouled in transition and made one out of her two free throw chances. Lady Tigers then fouled in an attempt to save time, sending Cosper back to the free throw line where she made one ending the final game score at 48-44.

Arkansas’s win makes it the fourth-consecutive game the Razorbacks have won at LSU.

Next the Razorbacks play Auburn in Auburn, Alabama Sunday (Jan.24) at 3 p.m. on the SEC Network.
