FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Fire and EMS crews responded to a liquid nitrogen leak on Monday evening (Jan. 25) near the intersection of Sunbridge Drive and Gregg Avenue.

Central EMS said one person was treated with minor injuries at the scene but was never admitted to a hospital.

Cryofactor Wellness Center owner Denise Youngblood said she saw nitrogen blowing out of her business’ external bulk tank. Youngblood said she was the only person inside the building, as the wellness center closes at 7 p.m. She said that a loose valve probably caused the nitrogen to dissipate.

She said that she immediately called 911 and the fire department had to let the nitrogen completely bleed out of the tank before the loose valve was tightened.

The wellness center has a smaller nitrogen tank inside the facility which is used for cryotherapy sessions.
