Fort Smith Stabbing Suspect Charged With Two Battery Felonies

FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A man arrested in connection to a stabbing has been charged, according to Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney Daniel Shue.

Vonterius Johnson, 29, has been charged with:

  • first-degree domestic battery
  • second-degree domestic battery where the victim was less than 12 years old.
  • habitual offender

According to Shue, Johnson confessed to stabbing his girlfriend Carrie Firestine multiple times with kitchen knives on Sunday night (Jan. 24). A police summary stated that the incident took place in front of a minor, who had a small cut and black eye from the altercation.

Firestine remains in the hospital in stable condition.

He is due in court on February 3 at 8:30 a.m.
