LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — The Arkansas governor has filed and submitted a disaster declaration request to President Obama for several counties following the severe weather in December 2015.
According to an Arkansas Department of Emergency Management release, Governor Asa Hutchinson is requesting both public and individual assistance from the federal government, which would include funding for affected counties or individuals, hazard mitigation and small business disaster loans.
Preliminary reports estimate damages in excess of $17 million, according to the release.
Hutchinson requested aid for the following counties: Benton, Boone, Bradley, Calhoun, Carroll, Clay, Crawford, Dallas, Drew, Franklin, Greene, Independence, Izard, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lee, Little River, Logan, Madison, Marion, Mississippi, Montgomery, Ouachita, Perry, Pike, Polk, Randolph, Scott, Searcy, Sebastian, Sevier, Stone, Washington, White, Woodruff, and Yell, according to the release.
