FRANKLIN COUNTY (KFSM) -- A man is dead and his mother was hospitalized Wednesday morning (Jan. 27) after a fire destroyed a home in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen said the 27-year-old man didn't make it out of the home on Oak Bend Road. His body was found in the rubble just after 9 a.m.

Travis Ball, a criminal investigator with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office released the identities of the family members: Loka Lee was the son, Chee Lee was his mother and his father's name is Teng Lee.

The man's mother was able to jump out a window to escape the fire and was taken by medical helicopter to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock, Ball said. The woman told fire crews her son was still inside the home.

Crews were called to the fire at 6:45 a.m. after the victim's father went to check on the chickens at 5 a.m. and saw smoke coming from the home, Boen said.

The fire is under investigation, but fire crews said its not of a suspicious nature. There was a fireplace in the home, but it was not in use at the time, according to Ball. He said fire investigators don't believe the home had smoke alarms, but they won't know for sure until more interviews are conducted.

The victims body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Lee family.
