OKLAHOMA (KFSM) — Some Oklahoma drivers licenses and identification cards contain an error that could cause issues for individuals trying to use the cards for identification.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety announced that some Oklahoma licenses and IDs were printed with the holographic security emblem in the wrong place or missing entirely, according to a press release. The image should appear on the front, but in some cards and licenses, they appear on the back or not at all.

A correctly printed license looks like this, with holographic images appearing on the front, and none on the back:

The licenses and cards with the error are still valid, the release states. However, they will likely cause delays for individuals trying to use them for identification when traveling, or at banks and federal buildings. People with the incorrect IDs are encouraged to replace them as soon as possible.

According to the release, the misprinted licenses and cards can be returned to the Motor License Agency where it was issued, and they will be replaced for free.

ID holders can check which tag agency issued the faulty license or ID card, by looking at the four-digit number printed at the top right corner of the photograph on the card. The corresponding list of tag agencies is posted on the DPS website at https://www.dps.state.ok.us/dls/motor_license_agents.php.
