FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A former Vice President of Technology for KFSM is facing a hearing next week in Sebastian County District Court for felony theft of property of more than $25,000.

Ft. Smith Police were called Dec. 15 about suspicions that Dan Ray Bishop, 53, used his corporate credit card to purchase 26 high-end Macintosh Laptop computers but never placed them in use at the TV station.

The police report states investigators matched serial numbers with computers that had been pawned by Dan Bishop to those purchased with his corporate credit card. Police also tracked other pawned items that could have only come from the television station, including TV camera switches and televisions.  The total of the items taken at the time of the report amounted to $32,000.

Bishop later admitted to police that he pawned them for personal profit to support a gambling problem and pay child support.

Bishop will have a preliminary hearing on Feb. 16 at 1:30 p.m.
