WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) — The Bentonville Bomb Squad was called in Thursday morning (Feb. 11) after the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department found a suspicious items under a bridge near Goshen.

The bomb squad identified the items under the Mayfield Bridge on Arkansas Highway 45 as two blasting caps and removed them, according to the Bentonville Police Department.

The caps were previously detonated so the bridge was not in any danger, according to police.

A rock quarry is located upstream from the bridge so it’s possible recent heavy rains washed the detonated caps downstream to the bridge, police state.
