BELLA VISTA (KFSM)-- A senior at Bentonville high school is a finalist in a National Geographic photography contest.

Eighteen-year-old Noah West is in the top 24 of nearly 2,300 submissions. West said he picked up photography when he was 13 years old.

"The best way to get into photography is just to pick it up and just roll with it," West said. "Shoot every chance you get, if you go out twice a year and take pictures that's just not going to work. so you need so you need to get out as much as possible."

He said in 2014, he was also a finalist in the contest. West said the picture he submitted this year was taken in Boston Mine, CO.

"You have to snowshoe in and snowshoe out, and once you get there it's just this gorgeous landscape," West said. "So it's surrounded by a natural amphitheater and I took the picture inside of one of the cabins looking out the window across the valley."
